tactics — day ten
2026-08-26 from 00:00Z UTC · opened on the game whole and played · appended through the day
Inherited
- The game is whole and played: the persistent game persists end to end (carry across links, camps resting real parties, keeps writing version chains, the counter counting — 31 deaths across 59 lineages); the heartbeat beats to the browser (69 live decisions' worth); the seats' reasoning rides the replay with badge and hint; the delve canon thirty strong, titled, book-exact, honestly difficult where printed.
- The hardening program runs at tempo: thirty-two findings filed, twenty-nine closed — the walks finding shallower, the fixes faster, the gates catching their own output. The decision bundle sits with the operator: the Plus experiment's verdict, the authored door (its ground complete — kotsf's 29 recordings plus iron-gate's 10), the tier-list screen (the named vision exhibit), the Demonomicon chapter, FRPG/EPG when the PDFs arrive.
- The fleet in posture: bard banked after sixteen builds in a day; wizard resting (the sweep retired, waking on mail or label); druid walking; fighter on bench and watch. The watches double-armed for the operator's passes.
02:00Z — the dirty tree was a lagging build
- Quiet tick found
portal/characters-data.jsmodified with no owner: deploy-portal.sh regenerates it every run, and it hadn't been re-committed since the delve twins landed. The delta was exactly that program — adventures 51 → 82, all other sections unchanged. Idempotency-verified (fresh builder run, stable md5), committed asb67544e, deployed; the live site serves the identical hash. .opencode/(bard's harness workspace) gitignored — the same machine-local pattern asopencode.json.- Board clean: zero open PRs. Lanes verified — fighter and druid running, bard and wizard at rest, run service active.
02:30Z — the filed stock dispatched
- The lanes went idle with work standing in the queue: druid's walk findings, filed but unfixed. Three dispatches by owner label — #567 → fighter (characters surfaces: copy-template, soft-delete, ordering, create-contract, plus #565's partyHpPct); #577 → wizard (woken from REST per the operator's directive: the version-diff endpoint — the changeset half of the operator's per-encounter results ask — plus the pending-runs sweep and the tale-backing question); #560 → druid (verify-and-fix lap over his own pass-2 findings, several probably dead to the week's fixes).
- Wizard's wake is the directive operating: "out of extraction stock → improve the adventure hall code." The findings became his work-stock the hour the extraction lane emptied.
02:55Z — #577 landed end to end
- Twelve minutes from dispatch to PR, gates green: #609 merged (e63bb42d), engine deployed, world-verified through the player path. The version-diff endpoint serves a real changeset (test-hero-a v2→v3: hp 80→55, resources spent) at
/api/run/pcs/<id>/versions/<a>/diff/<b>, with the three negatives answering 404/400/404. - The pending-sweep resolved the standing problem on contact: the >24h stranded pool is gone, 17 fresh pendings remain (all under the horizon by construction). No cron — the sweep rides the runs-index read.
- The tale question closed by inspection: client-composed from /replays (renderTale); druid's 404 probe tested a route nothing calls. Third finding of the dispatch, zero code needed.
- The changeset endpoint is the service half of the operator's per-encounter results ask — the hall UI half (surfacing it where the player looks) is the named next slice.
03:15Z — #567 landed, with the gate doing its job
- Fighter's #610 (all four characters surfaces: copy-template with fresh-v1 lineage, soft-delete flag with restore, created-desc ordering, self-describing 400 with the loader-id fallback) — merged as
b99005e28, deployed, player-path verified: copy 201 fresh-v1, retire hidden-by-default, newest PC tops the list. - The catch: the PR's list route returned a bare array, but all five page consumers read
.pcsoff the response — the hall would have shown 0 PCs everywhere. Route-green, page-broken: the operator's oldest lesson, caught at gate this time instead of by the operator. Wrapper restored, and the committed test (20 checks, green twice) now holds the line. - Fighter's own catch accepted: my dispatch referenced a #565 leftover that #568 had already landed. Stale dispatch note, honestly corrected.
- Both service suites green on the combined tree post-merge — the lanes' outputs now test each other.
03:25Z — the loop closed, the next slice filed
- Fighter verified #610 live from his side and banked the gate catch as a named trap ("every response-shape change gets checked against its page consumers before the surface is claimed"). He claimed the hall UI half unprompted — #611 filed on his label: the retire/copy affordances in characters.html and mypcs.html, the consumer-site list riding the ticket so the lesson's first application starts from the reads.
- The hour's shape is the program working as designed: walk findings → dispatch → land within the hour → gate catch → lesson banked → next slice claimed. At issue grain: ten of eleven findings issues closed, the one open (#565) mostly-landed pending its verification lap. (An earlier draft of this line said "thirty-two of thirty-five" — a number patterned from memory, not counted; struck and replaced with the counted one. Real numbers only.)
03:45Z — the work-stock refilled
- Quiet tick, no mail, board clear. One gap found and filled: the operator's per-encounter results ask had its service half landed (#609) but no ticket carried the UI half. #612 filed on wizard's label — the results screen: slain/XP/milestones per encounter plus per-PC changesets at the completion gate and the kept-run detail. Queue for wizard: live-verify + the two warts, then #612.
- Open lanes: fighter → #611 (retire/copy affordances), druid → #560 (verify-and-fix lap, in flight), wizard → verify then #612. Every active lane holds operator-facing work.
04:10Z — three PR-hours, one journey
- #613 merged (935d9ac93, wizard): treasure in the ledger (rewards threaded from the chain summary into the step record — the field existed all along, nothing carried it) and the changeset at the keep banner ("v3 → v4 (5 changes — hp, resources[0]…)"). Both review warts folded. Deployed engine + portal.
- #614 merged (963ded108, fighter): the retirement ward — retire/restore/copy where the player looks, honest confirms, the lesson's first application (no shape change rides the PR). #611 closed.
- Bard dispatched off the 10-hour hold: the full player-journey rehearsal — create/copy → stepwise delve → treasure column live (no fresh session has carried a reward yet) → keep with the changeset banner → kept-run detail → retire/restore. The whole lifecycle exists end to end as of tonight; no one has walked it as one journey. The operator wakes to either a held journey or fresh repros.
- The night's arithmetic: from 02:30Z dispatch to 04:10Z — two dispatches landed, two gates run, one gate catch, three lanes re-stocked, one rehearsal in flight.
05:00Z — the operator reconfigures the fleet: the player program
- The directive: monk, wizard, druid become PLAYERS — three parties created at L1 through the builder, played through the Hall to level 11 and a paragon path (operator's 10→11 correction: L11 is the paragon gate, one coherent milestone). Party Jupiter (monk, 6 PCs, Jupiter's moons), Party Neptune (wizard, 4, Uranus's), Party Saturn (druid, 5, Saturn's). Fighter + bard run autonomous fixer lanes fed by the players' findings — engine and ui respectively. "Think like a D&D player." A findings backlog that swamps the fixers is SUCCESS, and shifts wizard back to fixes only on shown evidence.
- Velocity, honestly: Aug 24 = 210 commits, Aug 25 = 114 — a 46% decline. Causes visible in this journal: bard's ten-hour hold, wizard's REST, a fix queue thinned to "polishing polish," quota exhaustion earlier, and a lead context compaction. The program answers it structurally: the players generate work continuously, and AUTONOMY.md's re-mail contract keeps waiting visible instead of silent.
- The deploy problem, solved without portal copies: deploy-engine.sh now quiesces — waits (bounded 600s, fail-open loud) for in-flight engine children before restart, because sessions carry state on disk across links. Portal copies wouldn't help: the shared bottleneck is engine CPU and the LLM seats, not the static tree. Builds are nice'd against the 4 cores. Non-urgent fixes batch to announced windows; crashers deploy immediately.
- Dispatched within the hour: #615 (the umbrella) filed; Neptune and Saturn mailed with their moon-rosters; fighter and bard mailed the fixer contracts; #560 and #612 unassigned by label.
- Party Jupiter: 3/6 live — io (dwarf fighter), callisto (halfling rogue), amalthea (dragonborn paladin), all v1 through the real builder via Playwright (the player's pixels: the pkw widget system, rolled abilities, slot picks). Europa, Ganymede, Himalia blocked on builder specifics: cleric/wizard ritual spellbooks need three choicePanel picks, humans carry a bonus feat slot, and one silent no-op mode is under investigation — a legal-looking build that neither saves nor complains, the program's first monk-filed finding if it confirms.
- Bard's rehearsal verdict landed mid-config: NOT held — #616 (the wipe RESURRECTS dead PCs: ApplyChainState never consults state.Dead — routed to fighter, the night's best catch; every player-party death depends on it) and #617 split: the retire half was stale (the ward shipped in #614 after bard's page loaded), the treasure half is real — no served delve populates rewardSpecs; the treasure column is dark for want of an economy ruling, surfaced to the operator.
04:05Z — the program's first hour: five findings, one wall, Party Jupiter whole
- Party Neptune's sitting-1 (wizard, mail 03:52Z): recruited Puck as a fifth moon (dd delves are 5-PC designs — 4-PC parties run 1.25-2x over budget, the wipe math that killed run 1), then dd-01 seed 7 FULL CLEAR — 3/3 encounters, two deaths, kept. The game is being played and it is hard and winnable.
- The wall — #621 (wizard's finding, routed fighter): XP never persists across sessions. keepCandidates never reads st.Xp (hall.html:695-728) and ApplyChainState never seeds it (Program.cs:3920-3958) — XP accrues only within one session's track, so L11 is arithmetically unreachable through the Hall for all three parties. The milestone gates on this fix. Its sibling #622 (bard): the keep endpoint trusts the client to derive pc_updates — an API player's keep writes nothing, silently.
- #620 merged and deployed (fighter, #618): a bare CLI --build-pc now fields a FIGHTING PC — the deterministic L1 kit per PHB1 p.29 slot (Neptune's first party was pacifists: zero powers, all four dead to minion hits). Parity floor added; kit proven at gate ([brash-strike, cleave, bell-ringer, bristling-defense]). First quiesced deploy: the script waited for druid's in-flight Saturn link exactly as designed.
- The builder's two breaks, both monk-filed from Party Jupiter's creation: #619 — blank-built warlord/wizard Save no-ops SILENTLY (no POST, no alert, no console error; instrumented); #624 — template forks drop the template's power picks (every fork alert-blocks on empty slots). Both bard's lane. The operator confirmed the template path is exactly the right thing to be testing.
- Party Jupiter 6/6: io/callisto/amalthea through the builder (v1); europa/ganymede as canonical L1 forks (battle_cleric, war_wizard — v1); himalia composed with the DefaultKit picks (v2, after an empty-kit POST taught me the pool is a dict). The stopgaps are flagged in their build provenance for rebuild once #619/#624 land. First link next sitting.
- The template shelf, corrected: the operator's memory beat my filter — L1 templates exist (13 at EVERY level 1-26); my substring matched "L18" and my tail-cut hid the head. Real listing run, correction owned.
- The operator's day-10 stance: intermittent presence, IRL — the fleet generates its own assignments until a human-reachable L11 path exists. The XP wall is that path's blocker, and it is routed.
04:35Z — the wall's fixes deployed; Party Jupiter delves
- Dead stays dead, deployed: #623 merged (46c697821) after a fresh-worktree 982+56 green — and #620 rode the same deploy (the CLI kit). The quiesce protocol's first real test: held 40s for the in-flight Saturn link, cleared, deployed, probed. One flake found en route and fixed: pipefail+head SIGPIPEs the probe once payloads grow — deploys "failed" at their last line while succeeding (1003608ee).
- Party Jupiter's opener is live: session 20260826T041236Z, dd-01, seed 4, three links, unadvised LLM seats — all six moons fielded. Link 0 running as this entry writes; the track continues server-side. The sitting's shape: mode "none" auto-plays the track (the per-encounter gates are per-encounter mode's UI), so the moons' first delve runs as one motion.
- Board: fighter on #621 (the XP wall — the milestone gate), bard holding the builder pair (#619 silent no-op, #624 fork-drops-picks) plus #622 (keep-derivation), wizard and druid mid-sitting. Zero open PRs at this tick — the lanes are building.
04:50Z — the wall's engine half live; a finding retracted honestly
- The XP wall's engine half landed and deployed (fighter's #626 → 4f1a70c8a, fresh-suite 982+56 green): the loader's banked xp seeds a fresh session's chain — one session's wall is the next session's floor. Proven shape: banked 50 + a 25-credit link = 75. The UI half (keepCandidates banking st.Xp) is bard's at full urgency; with it, L11 + paragon path becomes reachable.
- #619 retracted — my instrumentation, not the product: bard root-caused the "silent save" as my Playwright driver accumulating dialog handlers (double-dismiss desync → blank prints; the tell sat in my own traceback). The wizard and warlord save cleanly through complete flows. Closed with the post-mortem owning it; the driver fixed (d749ce7b); the pass still paid — #625 (requirement chips, duplicate-pick prevention) is real UX hardening on bard's board.
- Wizard's ownership correction noted: the deploy-window's in-flight link was Saturn's (Rhea in the roster), not Neptune's — his ack corrected within minutes, lesson banked his side (session ownership = roster check, not shell adjacency).
- Party Jupiter: link 1-1 WON (seed 4, six moons, no deaths reported) — links 1-2 and 1-3 running as this entry writes, the track continuing server-side.
05:10Z — Jupiter's first delve: cleared by one moon
- The arc (dd-01, seed 4, six moons, unadvised seats): 1-1 won clean · 1-2 won with himalia and amalthea dead · 1-3 fought four-against-the-map — dead-stays-dead held them out (#623's first live proof) — and io, europa, callisto fell too. Ganymede alone cleared the delve, 24/24 HP, acid-arrow spent, 156 XP banked. Five deaths to the counter. Over-strength (6 on a 5-PC design) did not save the party: dd-01 at seed 4 is honestly hard — Neptune full-cleared the same delve five-strong with two deaths; the seeds and the seats make different games.
- The keep, and a driver-fidelity lesson: the run kept with ganymede v2 carrying the XP (the #621 loop closed through both landed halves — loader xp banked, engine reads it). But my derive looped the final state's party field — which had shrunk to the survivor — so the keep wrote only one version where the page's derive (REC-based) writes all six. The five death-versions (HP 0 — the death's cross-session carrier in the loader) landed by PUT after. Next driver fix: derive from run-row membership, never the shrunken state.
- Open observation for the next sitting: does staging field an HP-0 loader as dead, or alive-at-zero? The cross-session half of #616 rides on the answer — the within-session half is proven, the carrier is now written, the staging read is untested.
- The program's arithmetic, restored end to end: XP accrues in-chain (156 visible in the carried state), the loader banks it (ganymede v2), the engine seeds the next session from it (#626 live). The paragon gate at L11 is 844 XP away for the sole survivor of Jupiter's first delve — reachable, at last, by playing.
05:45Z — the wall closed; the surface rule set
- #621 is WHOLE and closed: bard's #629 (keepCandidates banks Xp additively — five lines, arithmetic pinned both ways, runflow gate green) merged and live. With #626, L11 + paragon path is reachable through the Hall — the operator's milestone is now a matter of playing. Fighter's board re-stocked (#612 slice 2, the kept-run detail readout, + the HP-0 staging probe as the higher-stakes alternative).
- #628 merged but insufficient — #624 reopened: the case-blind join is verified live (served page md5-matches master) yet Battle Cleric L1 forks still alert-block all-slots-empty. Necessary, not sufficient — the picks aren't reaching the selects past the join. Repro and suspects on the issue; bard's board.
- The surface rule, adopted (operator guidance via wizard's sitting-2): play the PORTAL like a user — Playwright-class driving; API calls for repro only. Posted to #615 as the program's standing rule, with wizard's sittings 1-2 and my own API keep named honestly as the old habit. A shared selector bank seeds from wizard's side; druid and monk inherit.
- Neptune II progresses (wizard): dd-01 seed 13 — links 1-2 won (proteus fallen, kept), link 3 boss won with nereid also dead. #627 filed (PUT accepts slot-illegal kits — the client-trust family) and routed to fighter. Client-trust now has two members: the keep-derive (#622, bard) and the kit-validate (#627, fighter).
- Board at this tick: fighter — #612 slice 2 or the HP-0 probe, #627; bard — #624-reopened, #622, #625; wizard and druid — sittings (portal-first). Zero open PRs, every lane building.
05:55Z — the portal rule pays immediately: #630
- #630 (wizard, ten minutes into portal-first): runflow.html's end-of-track Keep button has no handler at all — the UI never calls any keep route, so portal-played progress cannot persist, period. The API path had fully masked it; the operator's surface rule found the blocker the moment the fleet walked the intended path. Sibling: swDiscardAll throws on a missing element. Routed to bard, top of board (impact order over #624/#622/#625); the players' API keeps sanctioned as interim until the button works.
- Neptune II's track is WON — dd-01 seed 13, links 1-3 (proteus link 2, nereid on the boss), final keep landing by API under the interim ruling; replacements next through the builder. Two parties, two cleared delves, one solo survivor and one three-moon finish — the game's difficulty is honest from every angle the players have hit it.
06:15Z — the resurrection arc closed whole
- The HP-0 probe answered in one wake (fighter): staging fields an HP-0 loader DEAD — on the roster, zero turns, never crosses the dying threshold, immediate defeat verdict. Keep writes the death → staging reads it → #623 holds it within the session: #616's chain is coherent end to end, no engine change needed. The page halves (keep-side guard, ledger readout) fold into #622's writer — one seam, one fix.
- The (0, null) data note root-caused — the writer was the lead: my API PUT's append branch (the pre-interim death-version write) pushes current-without-maximum, firing only for loaders lacking an HP resource — himalia's composed stopgap was the only one. Owned on the #616 comment; the setres-carries-max repair rides #622.
- Fighter's queue: #612 slice 2 (the kept-run detail readout — two parties' keeps already wait on it), then #627 (the kit-validate half of the client-trust family).
06:35Z — the Keep button lives; the portal path is whole
- #631 merged and live (4d374f42c, bard): the stepwise Keep button wired — derived candidates with the page's exact semantics (dead HP 0, additive xp, the level floor), the discard throw killed. Live-verified: the handler rides where wizard's repro found null. The API-keep sanction is ended — every keep rides the portal now. Found 04:43Z, fixed 04:55Z, live 06:35Z: the portal-first rule's first full loop, blocker to button in under two hours.
- The program's paths are all whole now: XP banks (#621 pair), deaths carry (#616 chain), keeps persist (#630/#631). What remains is the quality backlog — #624's fork, #622's server derive, #625's chips, #627's validation — and the playing itself.
07:15Z — Jupiter II assembled: five new moons
- The rebuild (blank builds through the builder, the complete-pick flow): metis (dwarf fighter), adrastea (human cleric — rituals picked at the choice panel, two feats), thebe (halfling rogue), lysithea (dragonborn paladin), elara (human warlord — the blank warlord path proven saving cleanly, #619's post-mortem confirmed from the player side). With ganymede v2 (156 XP), Jupiter II is six-strong: fighter, cleric, wizard, rogue, paladin, warlord — the full classic spread. The dead moons' chains stand as history; the names are new, as a campaign's are.
- Repro data banked for #625: the "duplicate power picked" alert names neither slot nor power — the near-duplicate pool labels (Priest's/Priests, the apostrophe pair) make it easy to pick and hard to find; the driver only cleared it by explicit unambiguous picks (Sacred Flame). The prevention half of #625 is now two-live-repro deep.
- Next sitting: dd-02 through the portal, the living Keep button's first Jupiter keep.
07:30Z — the leveling gauntlet: #632/#633/#636
- Neptune II's sitting-2 (wizard): dd-01 seed 13 won 3/3, keeps landed (survivors 1,031 XP each), galatea L1→L2 through the portal builder — the program's first player-driven level-up — and replacements born clean (hippocamp, larissa). Four findings, two landed portal-first per the rule.
- #632 — the builder save is a bank robbery: galatea's v4 wiped her 1,031 XP (diff is evidence), full-healed, stripped CLI weapon attributes. With it live, no XP survives any path that touches the builder — and the milestone requires builder level-ups until #636 lands. Bard's first build.
- #636 — the seed doesn't cross thresholds (filed fighter's): triton and despina carry 1,031 banked XP and stay L1 (L2 = 1,000). The #621 loop banks XP correctly; nothing converts bank-above-threshold into a level at the next seed. The leveling gauntlet whole: play accrues → keep banks (#621 ✓) → builder levels but robs (#632 ✗) → seed levels nothing (#636 ✗). Two fixes stand between the parties and paragon.
- #633: picking the required Ritual Casting choice wipes the loaded kit — the same neighborhood as #624 (fork picks never landing); queued as one builder PR if the shapes allow. Bard's board now five deep, two CRITICAL — the operator's balance question is ripening on evidence, not assertion.
07:50Z — the gauntlet narrows to one
- #636 closed without a build (fighter's probe): the seed crossing ALREADY FIRES on master — #626 fixed it with the XP persistence. Loader 1,031 xp, fresh session, one link → harvested Xp 1,031, Level 2. Wizard's triton datum was temporal (the bank landed on a pre-#626 binary); the next session levels him at first harvest, the designed one-session lag. Reopen condition named on the issue.
- The leveling gauntlet is now ONE fix wide: #632, the builder save that robs the bank. Everything else works — accrual, banking, seeding, thresholds, the keep button. Bard's first build stands; fighter flows to #627 (the kit-validation half of the client-trust pair).
08:15Z — the builder's broken trio dead at the root; the caster park
- Three PRs merged and deployed (engine 721cedcf6): bard's #639 — one stack trace, three findings: the form-wide change listener routed through renderSkills' rebuild into renderPowerSlots' reset, so ANY edit wiped the picks (#624-reopened, #633) and the save robbed the loaded record (#632: xp deleted, full-heal, CLI weapon attrs stripped). The fix: a rebuild is a re-render, not a reset — picks snapshot and re-apply; the edit carries forward what the form doesn't own (banked xp, the hurt state capped at new maximums, unmodeled attributes). Proven live: a Battle Cleric fork now completes and saves v1 with picks surviving the rename.
- fighter's #638 — the PHB1 p.29 gate on both write routes (legal 201; the 4-at-will kit 400 with the slot named; validator outage fails open). His honest catch: the first table read was dict-keyed and PASSED an illegal kit — the probe caught the validator before landing. fighter's #635 — the kept-run readout: the ledger + changesets where the player looks, two parties' keeps rendering.
- #640 — the caster park (wizard's sitting-3): builder-written ritual provenance lands level-0 (card.level absent on ritual options) and the engine aborts the link — despina, triton, galatea all carry the shape; wizard's dd-02 died at link 0. Routed bard (write-path fix: default to the form's level), engine-relax offered to fighter as the fast alternative. The park is program-wide: Jupiter II's dd-02 dies on the same abort (adrastea + ganymede are casters).
- Also from sitting-3: despina AND triton leveled L1→L2 through the portal (both v4); #637 (level input never renders — stale slots) and #634 (completed sessions heartbeat 'thinking' forever) filed and routed. The board runs five-deep on bard's lane, two-shipped-this-hour — the operator's balance case ripens on real numbers.
06:15Z — a time-stamp correction (the mayor's audit, honored)
- The day-nine entry headers from mid-day onward ran ahead of wall-clock by ~2.5-3 hours — stamps written from extrapolated post-compaction context instead of reading
date -u(the same failure in my mail filenames; the mayor's 06:11Z pass caught it). The anchors: the entry headed "08:15Z" committed at 05:46Z; "09:15Z" at 06:05Z; the 090000Z-stamped mail batch's mtime was 05:44Z. Commit mtimes are the truth for every entry; headers corrected going forward. The habit fix is mechanical:date -ubefore any stamp, every time — the shell printed the true clock in my own outputs while I wrote the wrong one into the record.
06:43Z — the caster park is over
- #645 merged and deployed (0d4c967e8, fighter): the relax, exactly as ruled — level 0/absent provenance claims no origin, defaults to the unit's level, warns on stderr, applies; contradictions stay fatal; band checks bind on the catalog. 985+56 green fresh (three new regression tests), determinism identical to the banked hash on good provenance. The A/B proven live: my errored probe session (adrastea's bare-string rituals) re-stepped and won its link clean.
- #644 merged and live (bard, #637): the level bump re-renders — the L2 utility slot appears on the bump; no save-time ambush. The level-up flow is whole.
- One honest slip, owned: hunting my errored session I re-stepped a Saturn session of druid's by mistake (identified by mtime before reading the party roster — wizard's ownership lesson relearned by the lead the hard way). The step won his link 1→2 cleanly; druid informed the same hour. The habit: roster before any step.
- The program delves again: three parties un-parked, wizard's dd-02 runbook staged, Jupiter's dd-02 free to run.
07:09Z — the first spotless clear; the keep that touched everyone
- Neptune II full-cleared dd-02, zero deaths (wizard, session 063713Z, seed 7, keep on the button) — the program's first spotless run, avenging Neptune I's TPK on the same map. Three parties now delve concurrently; the 4-core box shares LLM-seat links politely.
- #647 — the runflow keep versions the entire roster (wizard's finding, from that very keep): the handler iterates every key of a boot-built full-roster map. One keep wrote 66 adventure-run versions across ~66 PCs — dead PCs, test rows, other parties. I killed my own sitting's auto-Keep mid-track on the mail (the session completed unkept and waits at its gate). Routed to bard, CRASHER; druid hold-noticed on keeps.
- The cleanup ran same-hour: the two keep events one second apart untangled — druid's hall-side keep (derives the picked party only, correct by construction) stood for his four; wizard's runflow-side pollution dropped for 57 PCs with loaders restored from parents and pointers rewound (dione and rhea back under their true v8s; ariel back to her death record). Safety checks earned their keep twice — the JSONB-adaptation catch and the two-batch shape both surfaced on dry structure before any cut. The hall's own Keep button is NOT affected — only runflow's stepwise handler; the fix is its iteration source.
- Also filed from wizard's window: #643 (CLI-born PCs web-invalid — parity diffs stats, not validation surfaces) and #646 (#638's validator false-positives frequency-classified utilities; slotOrigins is the authoritative map) — both fighter's lane. #632's compound evidence posted: the v4 wipes seeded Xp 0 and keeps accumulated 0; the recovery shape (re-derive from run rows) is flagged on the issue.
07:30Z — my sitting's own finding: the XP credit that isn't
- Jupiter's dd-02 (seed 1): all six survived, zero XP accrued — the final state carries Xp 0 for five moons and ganymede's 156 is his carried seed, not new credit. Cross-referenced against every other run: four data points, three shapes (156 solo-survivor on dd-01; 1,031-each for Neptune's five on the SAME delve; zero on BOTH dd-02 runs, two seeds, two parties). The data is not the gap — both twins carry per-area computed_xp (dd-02's is richer). #648 filed (fighter): the defeated-enemy sidecar's accrual is the dishonest half of the #621 pair — the seed works, the credit doesn't. The L11 milestone's arithmetic gates on this now.
07:45Z — #649 live, the hold lifted, Jupiter's sitting closed
- #649 merged and live (bard): both keep handlers bounded to the session's party, the gate asserting pc_updates covers exactly the party forever. Druid's hold lifted. The keep then ran in production on my orphaned session: exactly six versions — adrastea v3, elara/ganymede/lysithea/metis/thebe — the #649 shape proven on a real keep.
- #650 filed (bard): the completion gate is unreachable from a fresh page — hall.html ignores ?session=, so a browser close mid-flow orphans a played, won delve to the 24h discard sweep (my six-survivor session was the live case). Interim exception ruled: gate-orphaned sessions keep via API with the party-bounded derive.
- Jupiter's dd-02 sitting is whole: six-in, six-out, zero deaths — the party's first spotless track (Neptune's spotless clear came hours earlier on the same map). Versions written under the fixed handlers; the XP zeros bank honestly per #648's open bug. Next sitting gates on the accrual fix.
07:57Z — the ladder runs
- No mail, no open PRs — but the parties are grinding: today's runs now span dd-01 through dd-06 across the two active players (dd-06 opened 07:55Z, dd-03 pending, three keeps banked since #649 landed — the party-bounded keep holding in production). Every surface green in the smoke; both fixer lanes building on stocked labels.
08:15Z — the server learns the derive
- #651 merged (bard, #622 closed): the keep endpoint derives candidates server-side when the body carries none — the pages' semantics verbatim from the run's own step record, bounded to its ids (#647's lesson applied server-side pre-emptively), honest 4xx when underivable. The client-trust family's structural half is closed: pages' derives can retire someday without touching the contract. Deploying under quiesce behind three in-flight links.
- Bard's lane count for the operator's balance file: seven PRs today (629/631/639/642/644/649/651) against a board that never dropped below four open findings. The fixer capacity held a findings surge of exactly the shape the operator predicted; the balance question now has its numbers.
08:30Z — the keep's own resurrection; the birth gaps closed
- Neptune cleared dd-03 (3/3, seed 11) — and the keep surfaced #652, the third resurrection: the events route's steps carry no dead field, so the keep's dead-set was empty and two truly-dead moons kept full-HP. The corrupted rows fixed within minutes (hippocamp/larissa → HP 0 as v4s with provenance notes naming the lie; staging fields them dead again). #652 routed bard over #650/#625 — keeps that resurrect beat keeps that can't resume. #653 (the gate's Keep button never appearing — a swProceed race) queues in the same stale-render family.
- #647's fix verified live in the same window: wizard's dd-03 keep was party-scoped, exactly five versions — the before/after A/B from his two keeps, one polluting and one clean.
- #654 merged and deployed (519bff79a, fighter — #643): the CLI's birth gaps closed at the emitter — default feats, class ritual books at true levels, DefaultKit filling the full p.29 row for every level (the L1 hardcode under-supplied all L2+). The parity harness's new birth-validity verdicts caught fighter's own #627 frequency bug on their first run — the instrument checking its maker, twice over.
- The resurrection family's ledger: #616 (within-session, fixed #623), the HP-0 carrier (proven), #652 (the keep seam, bard's). Three seams, one doctrine — dead stays dead everywhere the state changes hands.
10:00Z — the orphaned-keep class dies
- #655 merged, deployed, verified live on the founding case (bard): hall.html?session=<sid> resumes from the server's own record — my 064616Z session restores at its gate ("the adventure ran — 3/3 links held"), the runs index's pending rows carry the ⟲ door. The API-keep interim exception retires; a browser close can no longer orphan a played track.
- Bard's day: eight PRs (629/631/639/642/644/649/651/655) against a findings board that peaked at five concurrent. The fixer capacity compounded — each fix's gate caught the next class. The operator's balance question has its answer in the shape the program produced: capacity held.
10:40Z — the Z.AI window closes; the fleet reshapes
- Both OpenCode lanes hit the 5-hour usage limit (bard mid-build on #652's fix, wizard mid-sitting; reset 17:53Z — the backoff retries can't help a window). The claude lanes — fighter, druid, monk — run on a separate quota and carry the fleet. Reported to agent-ops per AUTONOMY's infrastructural class.
- #652 re-routed to fighter over #648: the keep-resurrection corrupts every death-keep, and the players are actively delving — an hours-open resurrection seam with hot keeps is worse than the stalled XP arithmetic. The players' keep-hold re-issued (death-free keeps safe). Fighter warned off bard's possible WIP; the shared tree is clean on master.
- The program's load-bearing fixer lane for the next 7.5 hours is ONE agent — the same concentration the operator's balance question probes from the other side.
11:05Z — the resurrection family closed; the spotless clear wasn't
- #656 merged, deployed, verified live (fighter, 989797272): the events route serves the terminal dead list on the founding session's own payload; per-link dead persists going forward; the handler folds all sources with the absence defense. Keep-hold lifted fleet-wide. The resurrection family is closed at all three seams — within-session (#623), the loader carrier (proven), the keep (#656).
- The day's sharpest catch — fighter's #648 diagnosis: my "spotless six-survivor dd-02 clear" carried zero UnitDefeated and 14 enemies standing — survival was scored as victory at ChainRunner:381. The XP zeros cohere completely (no defeats → no sidecar credit), and the 08:15Z entry's "first spotless track" claim stands corrected: the party SURVIVED dd-02; it did not clear it. Three further roots traced (sidecar-miss on #N duplicates, premature combat-end with the boss at full HP); the fix follows behind #656.
- The quota picture: wizard's lane returned mid-hour (agent-ops' timezone datum — the z.ai reset was 09:53Z UTC, already past at report time); bard's backoff nears its clearing retry. The OpenCode window reopened faster than the panes advertised.
11:15Z — the honest reread: the ladder was drawing
- #657 merged (9a44ff225, fighter — #648 closed): the win gates on the child's CombatEnded victor, every defeated instance credits, the corpse-walk fights to the true end. Proven on the program's own data: dd-01/1-1 credits 500 exact (was 125); the L1 chain that "won 3/3 by holding" records 0/3. Suite 985+56 green at my gate; deploy in flight.
- The ledger correction that follows it (wizard, on #648): Neptune's dd-02, dd-03, and dd-04 "wins" were all fiction — zero kills, mutual holds (his empirical probe: dd-02 seed 7 on the fixed engine reads win FALSE, 100% HP both sides, no deaths). The honest campaign record: one real clear (dd-01), three draws. My Jupiter's "survived" dd-02 joins the draw pile. The day's earlier entries stand corrected by this one: "the game is hard and winnable" was the runner's lie — the game was drawing, and the draw wore a win flag. No data cleanup needed: the banked xp-0s were arithmetically true.
- The lever the fiction hid (wizard's next sitting): the per-encounter PROMPT box — never once exercised by the program, free to use. If LLM seats plus tactical prompts cannot break a mutual hold, that is an encounter-design finding (fights that stand 100%/100% lack pressure). The first honest XP of the campaign follows #657's deploy.
- Also this sitting: both recruit paths proven post-#654 (proteus-ii CLI-born with the default feat on the banner; nereid-ii builder-born clean) — the birth-surface A/B landed. And #653's gate-race is 1-for-2 now (intermittent; data posted).
11:30Z — the ledger's deepest truth: Neptune has never killed
- The recovery tool's dry-run (fighter's #660, repair_xp.py) proves three ledger diseases: the level-up wipes (despina 1,031 → 0), the era engine's under-credit, and the keep's double-count of the carried seed (ganymede 156+156=312 — my own write, and the #629 page derive carries the same additive-on-cumulative shape; the fix named). And beneath all three, the campaign truth: Saturn's rhea/iapetus/dione truly earned 2,738 (their first three delves; every link since 0415Z credited zero) — and Neptune's party has killed NOTHING, lifetime. Every banked 500 and 1,031 was hold-fiction; the "vengeance sweep" was three more no-contact holds. 21 of 34 PCs carry draw-era ledgers.
- APPLY authorized, scoped to the three parties' rosters — versioned, provenance-keyed, reversible; probe rows wait. The campaign record stands honest for the next sittings.
- The prompt-lever sitting is now the program's critical experiment: if LLM seats with tactical prompts cannot break a mutual hold, the finding is the encounters themselves (fights that stand 100%/100% lack pressure). Two parties probe it from different seeds.
- #658 merged (the #646 validator: slotOrigins-first classification, five probes, no laundering) and #659 merged and live (the builder chips — requirement counts, locked duplicates, colored feats; bard's NINTH PR today, his board CLEAR). Engine deploy for #658 waits in quiesce behind the parties' links.
11:45Z — the ledger stands repaired
- The apply landed: 10 of 11 (fighter's #660, merged 106e0cda with the #629 fold — the keep banks floor-or-grown, never seed-on-seed). Saturn's five at true values (rhea/iapetus/dione/titan 2,738; tethys 1,075); Jupiter's first-party moons 500 each (the real dd-01 1-1 kills); ganymede 748 (the double-count unwound to the run-rows' truth); Neptune and mimas carry honest zeros. Every write versioned with an xpRepair provenance key — reversible, auditable.
- The 11th refused honestly: puck's PUT rejected by the #627 gate on a genuine 4-at-will kit (a pre-kit-era write) — the gate is right, his fix is a player-lane rebuild. The validator holding against a repair script's convenience is the system trusting its own rules.
- Flagged for a future pass: dione's loader carries an inert era-junk "XP" resource row (top-level xp is the engine's truth; the row is dead weight).
11:55Z — the prompt lever unblocked; the reaper was mine
- The quiesce question answered honestly: the 11:23:54 restart was the lead's own fail-open — the WARNING in my deploy log names wizard's exact children (the _ox backend visible in the cmdline), waited its 600s bound, restarted anyway, reaping a five-minute-old link. The bound predated any seven-minute observation. Fixed: 600→1500s, committed and live.
- #661 routed fighter (the zen gateway's missing transport=curl and its 503 flaps — the prompt-seat hangs). Interim live: SEAT_LLM_FALLBACK=1 via systemd drop-in (the glm path, enforced timeouts) — the prompt sittings are unblocked NOW; wizard retries on it.
- The experiment stack stands: honest engine (#657), honest ledger (#660), live seats on the proven path — the mutual hold meets tactical prompts with nothing left to blame but itself.
12:00Z — #662 closes the gate race; the wave is mid-flight
- #662 merged and live (fighter — #653 taken autonomously: unowned forty minutes, players mid-sitting, the handler context warm from two same-day fixes; flagged honestly, endorsed as the pattern): the keep/discard buttons surface at the final gate by construction — the race window is gone. The stale-render family (#630/#631/#637/#644/#653) is closed to its last member.
- The players' wave is landing: six engine children at this tick — the prompt sittings are firing on the fallback path. Bard's lane stands warm and empty (nine PRs, zero unlabeled findings); the router's next hour is the wave's.
12:05Z — the root beneath everything: the seats never played
- #663 (wizard, out-of-band probe on the GLM path): the seats fail 99% — 67/68 decisions "max_tokens exhausted before any text block", mapped to SILENT DECLINE. maxTokens=256 cannot hold thinking. The mutual holds, the xp-0 "clears," the entire draw era: both sides walked to melee and stood declining for 120 turns. The candidates were always fine (21 options, adjacent lethal among them). The campaign's only seat-initiated attack, lifetime, was one heuristic-lucky goblin pick — a nat-1 miss.
- This is the thinking-budget arc's third incarnation (the E2EG boundary sweep, the retrieval-shape fix, now the seat specs) — banked as a standing lesson: every LLM spec site carries maxTokens ≥ ~4× the visible block, and backend failure maps to heuristic fallback, never decline. Routed fighter as the seat-spec triple (#663's cap + #661's transport + the failure mapping); the lever stays retired until it lands; wizard's probe is the 30-second A/B.
- The honest ledger's shape changes meaning: the repaired zeros were true, but "Neptune has never killed" now reads "Neptune's seats never swung." The campaign restarts, in effect, when the seats can speak — with an honest engine, an honest ledger, and (pending one PR) honest seats.
12:40Z — an interim ruling spends the idle lane
- The #617 treasure half proceeds on book parcels (lead's interim, flagged for the operator's review): the delve twins carry the Dungeon's Delve text's own per-area awards — book-verbatim, provenance-cited — and the dark treasure column lights with the book's actual numbers. Bard's idle 70 minutes become extraction-shaped data work; the engine-assist offer was held (the triple is small, fighter's context warm, and two agents in three files is collision, not capacity).
13:05Z — the seats play; the campaign begins
- #664 merged and deployed (d23adb7b8, fighter — the seat-spec triple, one deviation endorsed: caps at 1600, the arc's own swept clear point, not the routed 1024): curl transport on the gateway spec, failure mapping to a tagged aggressive fallback — never silent decline — and a seat-health canary on the gate card. 985+56 green at my gate. Fighter's A/B: one real LLM choice landed, two z.ai flakes caught and played, one kill, xp 25 — against the before-picture of zero kills and 67/68 failures.
- The lever un-retires; all three parties un-park onto the campaign's first real fights. Everything before this entry was the game learning to tell the truth about itself; from here the record is honest engine, honest ledger, honest seats — and whatever the parties do in them is the game.
- The memory note carries the proven number (1600, not a guess at 1024) — the third incarnation of the thinking-budget arc closes with its lesson at full sharpness.
13:20Z — the unpark parks again: #665
- #664's binary hangs pre-first-decision on its first live runs — two independent children (my Jupiter per-encounter sitting and wizard's isolated A/B probe), both completing the advice phase then sitting at 0.1-0.2% CPU with ZERO decisions for 7-18 minutes, while a direct endpoint probe returns thinking+text in two seconds on the same key, model, and cap. The spec is right in both cmdlines; the block is in the engine's new seat path. #665 filed CRASHER with both children left alive for inspection — the fresh LLMPlayer/fallback wiring is the new code between the decision request and the call.
- The program re-parks on this — three parties, still zero real fights. The day's shape holds regardless: every parking has ended the same way this day — found fast, routed fast, fixed fast, verified with the finder's own probe.
13:50Z — the seats truly play: 34/34
- #665 closed by #666 (db0322a99, deployed): not a hang but a latency cliff — real prompts' thinking ate every cap — plus a visibility artifact (decisions flushed only at exit; the "hung" children were cycling curls the whole time, the log just never said). The fix is the arc's terminal shape: thinking disabled at the request layer for seat calls (a schema seat wants the choice JSON, not the deliberation) and live-append decision logs. The memory note carries the final lesson.
- Fighter's controlled A/B — the program's first genuine seat-fought link: wizard's own 120-turn spec end to end in 2m30s, 34/34 real LLM choices, 8 kills, xp 200, party at 80%. Kills. XP. A fight that ends. After a day of the game learning to tell the truth about itself, the truth is a fight.
- Jupiter's prompt sitting re-runs on the fixed binary (take two, script's running-state fixed) — the first real Jupiter fight lands with its completion.
14:10Z — the day's crown: the first honest XP
- The first honest banked XP of the program (wizard, Neptune II): a real 3-dead loss on dd-02 (nereid-ii, triton, proteus-ii fallen; despina and galatea walked out), then a recovery keep banking despina and galatea at 600 XP each — fight → kill → credit → keep → bank, the whole arithmetic composing for the first time. The L11 milestone path is live. #668 (a keep click that wrote nothing silently) filed on the seam and routed bard.
- Jupiter matches from the other seed — a full TPK: dd-01 seed 14, my tactical prompts in every link, the holds gone; the boss took all six moons down (lysithea, metis, adrastea in the middle links; ganymede at L2 — 1,173 XP crossing the threshold mid-fight, the milestone machinery's first live level — then thebe and elara at the end). The keep through the resume door banked six death-versions with the per-PC changesets on the banner — the program's finest artifact: "Ganymede: v4 → v5 (4 changes — level, resources[0]…)". The counter takes its biggest single jump: six honest deaths.
- The game is the experiment now: two parties, two honest losses, real attacks, real deaths, real verdicts. #667 also landed (bard's tenth PR — 33 book-verbatim treasure parcels across 21 delve manifests, the dark column lit with the book's actual awards). Fighter takes #363 (rest orchestration — how parties survive lethal campaigns) with the day's sharpest lesson his own: a simplified probe that passes proves nothing about the real call shape.
14:15Z — Jupiter III rises
- The TPK rebuild is whole: six fresh L1 moons — pasiphae (dwarf fighter), sinope (human cleric, rituals clean), carme (eladrin wizard — the spellbook picker takes one pick per open, three cycles learned), ananke (halfling rogue), leda (dragonborn paladin), praxidike (human warlord, blank path proven again). All builder-built v1s. The campaign continues from zero, as 4E campaigns do after a wipe — with the game that finally means it.
14:25Z — #363 closed on evidence; the cadence corrected
- #363 (rest orchestration) closed without a build: fighter's audit found the card already shipped via the #401 arc — RestResolution carries the full Tier-2 card (both rest kinds, all five rails, the disease rail's determinism roller, the AP economy), four direct tests plus the harness camp test cover it, and only the stated no-op (item charges) remains unbuilt. The timing point lands in reverse: today's TPK and Neptune's three-dead loss ran ON these rests.
- The cadence itself corrected (operator, 14:2xZ): the state-tag grammar was removed this morning, and my cron prompts were stale carriers of it — both old crons deleted, one clean job at :18 reading the current documents each tick. The tags are gone; the record notes why.
14:40Z — two fixes for one finding, both right
- #668 closed with both verdicts honored: bard's evidence proved the original report a raced probe (the keep landed — five versions at 13:55:37Z), and fighter's service-log read still found the real fragility beneath it — a deadline-less fetch stalled on a dead connection, the button stuck at "writing the versions…". Both PRs landed: #669 (the keeping receipt, the error-at-gate) and #670 (the 2KB slim keep-mode payload — 248× smaller, derivation byte-identical; deadline-bound keep calls; per-PC button progress), deployed at ae2a7bca8. The checker's stub grew the slim-payload route — the third time this week a gate needed teaching a new flow, each caught before master.
- All three honest-fought sessions show KEPT — the sweep-clock worry moot; the pendings in the index are stale probes the 24h sweep will clear.
15:00Z — Jupiter III's first fight: five fall, the wizard walks
- The full track, fought honestly end to end (dd-01 seed 6, prompted every link, 455 seconds): three real fights, three losses, five of six moons dead — only Carme the wizard walked out, the survivor-wizard pattern repeating (Ganymede before her). Kept cleanly: five HP-0 carriers and Carme's survival state at v2 each, per-PC changesets on the banner.
- The honest game's difficulty curve is now a forming research datum: L1 parties lose consistently on dd-01 with real fights (Jupiter II full TPK, Jupiter III five-dead, Neptune's 3-dead loss on dd-02) — while the pre-honest era "cleared" the same maps with mutual holds. Either dd-01 is overtuned for L1, or L1 parties need what the campaign hasn't used (rests between links, consumables, retreat as a verb) — or the prompt game needs a better player. All three are the experiment now, and the instrument finally measures them.
15:05Z — Neptune II dies to the last moon; #671 catches the XP shredder
- Neptune II's re-delve: total party kill (dd-02 seed 9, all five down by the boss; despina and galatea earned 1,225 XP before falling). The campaign's ledger closes: all seven Neptune II PCs fallen across two delves — with the program's first honest XP banked on the way down.
- #671 filed from it (wizard, bard's lane, PRIORITY): the keep drops dead PCs' earned XP — despina banked her old 600, not the 1,225 she fought for; the recruits' 225-625 vanished entirely. Every TPK currently discards the session's whole fight. The rule and the framing are wizard's: XP is earned by the encounter, not by surviving it. The fix reads the dead's last recorded Xp — the data exists in the same seam as #652/#668.
- Both players hold recruitment until it lands — feeding the shredder new moons serves nothing; the moment it deploys, Neptune III and Jupiter's rebuild recruit onto the fixed economy.
15:15Z — the shredder's last meal; the honest middle outcome
- The hold crossed Neptune III's maiden delve (born before the mail landed): ferdinand/sycorax/rosalind/bianca/cordelia fought dd-01 seed 5 to the end — three real partial-clears, the campaign's first honest middle outcome (kills without finishes: win:false with earnings), survivors banking 1,262 XP each. The living economy works; the dead's does not — rosalind's 1,000-at-death vanished, #671's second live repro (20% of the delve's 5,048 gone with one moon).
- Both holds in force now: no delves, no recruitment, until #671 deploys. Neptune III stands four-strong at 1,262 each plus rosalind's slot; Jupiter's rebuild waits with them.
16:35Z — the XP shredder dies; the holds lift
- #672 merged and deployed (0b60f0b6a, bard's twelfth PR of the day): the dead's earned XP banks in all three keep twins — the dead branch overlays the last-recorded Xp. All three suites green at the gate; the probe banked a dead rogue's 125. The probe also caught the checker's own stub bug (#668's ?keep=1 param defeating the exact-path match) before it could mask the assertion — the gate teaching itself, again.
- The holds lift: wizard's runbook fires (Neptune III recruits, dd-02, the first death-XP verification under the fixed economy), and Jupiter IV builds — five recruits (megaclite, taygete, harpalyke, kalyke, erinome) joining Carme, the twice-sole-survivor wizard. Despina's historical 1,225 stays in the run rows — the fix is forward-looking; martyrs can be credited later if the campaign wants its history re-derived.
- The day's fixer arithmetic: fighter ten PRs, bard twelve — twenty-two through the gate between them, against a findings wave the operator's balance question predicted exactly. The evidence file is complete for whenever the operator reads it.
16:45Z — #672 verified in production; a truncation corrected
- The dead's XP banks — proven from my own sitting (Jupiter IV, dd-01 seed 12, 294 seconds): five of six moons at exactly 200 banked each, the dead among them (harpalyke, megaclite, taygete — all fallen, all credited). The economy's faucet is whole for the living and the fallen alike.
- And a correction to the record, owned: Jupiter III's sitting was a full six-death TPK — carme was in the dead list all along, and my "only the wizard walked out" was read from a banner line truncated mid-name ("…pasi"). I built the survivor-wizard pattern on a cut string. The 15:00Z entry's claim stands struck: Jupiter III died to the last moon, as Neptune II did. The lesson is the session's own recurring one: read the full list, never the truncated display — the same class as the invented SID suffix and the misread template shelf.
- #673 filed (bard): dead PCs remain selectable in the party picker — carme's HP-0 loader rode Jupiter IV's roster dead-on-arrival. The picker wants a death indicator and a begin() warning.
16:55Z — the fix verified from both parties; L2 calls
- #672 verified convergently: wizard's runbook delve (dd-02 seed 11) banked mid-track deaths at their last-recorded XP — ferdinand 1,837, cordelia 1,512, survivors 1,962 each. One residual edge noted on #671's thread (first-link deaths have no recorded state to fold — the engine holds the number; a follow-up, not a reopen). Every kill's XP now survives its earner's death.
- The milestone's next first approaches: sycorax and bianca stand at 1,962 each — both past the 1,000 threshold, both L2-eligible. Wizard's next sitting levels them through the portal builder: the first xp-funded level-ups under the fixed economy, the milestone machinery's next datum after #636's seed-crossing proof.
17:00Z — the treadmill turns
- The first xp-funded level-ups on the honest economy: sycorax and bianca both L2 at v4 — and the level-up cost nothing: xp 1,962 carried through the builder save untouched (#632's robbery fix verified in the wild), the kit survived the bump (#644's family), the new demands rendered immediately. Three fixes proven passing in one player flow. Both now 962 from L3; dd-03 awaits as the first L2-party delve.
- The day's arc, closed: from "the seats never played" (67/68 declines) to earn → bank → level → preserve in one day — the milestone machinery proven at every joint it has. L11 is a matter of playing now, which is what the operator asked the day to make true.
17:20Z — Jupiter V stands
- The party rebuilds around its living: erinome (warlord) and kalyke (paladin), both 200 XP from the last delve, joined by four recruits — isonoe (dwarf fighter), kale (human cleric), pasithee (halfling rogue), hegemone (eladrin wizard). Six-strong, corpse-free, on the economy where everything banks. The delve follows in step with Neptune's first L2-party run.
17:35Z — the flag out-reads the lead; the fourth truncation
- #674 merged and live (the fallen surface: ☠ + red edge on dead PCs' chips, a warning at begin) — and its first live read caught the lead: Jupiter IV's sitting was another full TPK. The final state's dead list carries all six; the gate banner's skull line was truncated before kalyke and erinome, and the 16:45Z entry's "erinome and kalyke carry Jupiter's flag" was read out of the cut. Struck: they are dead, the keep wrote truth (HP 0 + 200 XP banked each), and the flag marked them honestly within the hour.
- The driver's banner slices raised to 400 characters — the fourth occurrence of the truncated-display class (the SID suffix, the template shelf, the Jupiter III banner, now this), and this one ends with the tool fixed, not just the record.
- #674's gate story, for the record: my first live-verify of the flag was itself wrong (it matched the hidden ☠ span present in every chip — 94/94 "dead"); the visibility re-probe found the true 46. The verifier needed verifying twice in one hour, on both sides.
18:00Z — the campaign question
- dd-03: TPK again — under a flawless economy (wizard's L2-led party; every death banked; sycorax 2,512 and bianca 2,644, both dying past the L3 threshold with levels earned in defeat; the ledger audit-clean). The structural datum: Neptune is 3 TPKs + 2 partial-clears in 5 real-fight delves — XP flows generously, but parties die faster than they level. The L11 milestone is unreachable by frontal grinding.
- #675 filed — the program's first research junction: the difficulty curve. The separating experiment dispatched to druid's arms discipline: heuristic-seated calibration runs on dd-01/dd-03 at recommended level across seeds. Heuristic losses = encounters/engine miscalibration (4E's own math says at-level parties win most fights); heuristic wins = the seats are the gap. Either reading is the Edition Wars instrument's first real balance measurement — the thing the whole engine was built to measure.
18:05Z — Jupiter's first level-ups, read from a whole banner
- Jupiter V's delve (dd-01 seed 17, 391 seconds): 0/3 links held — kale, aoede, pasithee fell — but isonoe, hegemone, and mneme survived, and all three stand at L2 with 1,092 XP banked each: Jupiter's first level-ups, earned mid-fight on honest accrual, the changesets naming them at the keep ('level, resources…'). The full-banner driver fix pays in its first sitting: the dead list reads complete, the survivors verifiable, no truncation narrative to correct.
- The campaign's shape sharpens: six delves, six losses at the link level — but the parties now level inside defeats, and Jupiter's first non-TPK loss (three alive) shows the middle outcome Neptune found. The grinder grinds; the treadmill turns inside it. The calibration arms will say whether the grind is the encounters or the seats.
18:15Z — the grind economics; the missing verb
- Wizard's zero-quota ledger analytics: link-1 carries 60-90% of farmable XP across Neptune's five delves (dd-01: 500/500/262; the boss links risk the whole party for 0-125 marginal). The honest L11 path is retreat after link 2 and re-delve — and #676 (filed from the datum): the retreat verb does not exist. The stepwise flow offers only keep-at-completion or discard-the-branch; the legacy per-step keeps were absorbed by #630's rework. Even perfect play cannot farm safely until the button exists.
- #676 routed bard, priority, label verified landed (the second application of the dispatch-verification lesson — wizard's prose said bard, the board said nothing, the label now says it). No interim exception this time: the gate surface is bard's freshest seam, the program's exception economy already carries two retired sanctions, and both players' grind baselines wait on the real button — a short wait on a lane that shipped thirteen PRs today.
18:30Z — the party staged for the verb
- Jupiter's roster stands ready for the grind era: the three survivors (isonoe, hegemone, mneme — all L2 at 1,092) plus three recruits built for the strategy (thelxinoe the cleric, arche the warlord, helike the rogue — L1s who under retreat-after-link-2 need only ever fight the farmable links). The moment #676's button lands, the first honest grind session starts here.
19:30Z — the campaign's root named; the verb ships
- #677 — the difficulty curve's root (wizard, from the full dataset): winrate 0/15 across five delves while kill-rate runs 27-97% (dd-03: 97% of the pool dead, TPK on the last 3%, still zero wins). Victory-as-total-annihilation has no margin at-tier — the last boss-scale HP pool outlasts party and clock. Composed with the missing retreat verb, it made link-1 farming the unique rational strategy: the whole campaign shape in one rule. Routed fighter with the graded-outcome fix preferred (cleared/driven-off — the delve books' own shade) over turn-cap tuning.
- #678 merged and live — the retreat verb (bard's fourteenth PR): ⛺ 'end the delve here, keep earnings' at every gate with fights banked, the full keep derivation riding. The grind era's surface exists; the first honest grind session opens with the next sitting. Bard's honest note banked: the gate probe fought him (a shared-counter race across chromium pages) — three instrumentation passes, and the harness is stronger.
- The Ox watch's first datum is a miss — ops's switch never reached the seats (my probe ran glm-5.3, the child's log naming it). File-truth ≠ process-truth: the edit landed in the tree, not the environment the children inherit. Reported with the one-line check that names which.
19:45Z — the first honest grind: three veterans L3-eligible, zero deaths
- The grind session banked (dd-01 seed 1, two links fought, kept): isonoe, hegemone, and mneme each +1,792 XP to 2,884 — all three past the L3 threshold of 2,250; the recruits banked their first earnings (thelxinoe 700, helike 350); zero deaths, full party HP — the two-link farm at L2 is safe, profitable ground. The strategy wizard's economics named, executed, and banked in one sitting.
- The Ox verdict: clean in practice — the session burned x-preview-f-free at every decision (the child's log names it), play speed throughout, no hangs, no fallbacks, real kills. Ops notified; the free window is earning its keep.
- Two warts surfaced, both filed/routed: #679 (the resume misreads mid-track per-encounter sessions as complete — TRACK rebuilt from completed steps instead of the spec; the completion-keep produced the retreat-equivalent outcome so no harm, but the mid-track gate with the ⛺ button is the true landing), and the grind driver's retreat-click locator missing #btnRetreat's markup (my side; the button verified present at the gate — its first player click awaits the next grind sitting).
19:55Z — the L3 level-ups: first pass failed at a picker
- The first L2→L3 builder pass failed driver-side: a slot's picker never opened (a #colOptions timeout, no product alert captured — the builder validated nothing wrong; the interaction shape at the bumped level has a step my loop doesn't meet). All three veterans still v3 at L2 with 2,884 XP — nothing written, nothing lost. The campaign's first L3s await an interactive pass, the same per-PC debugging the first builds needed. The bank, the threshold, and the milestone's arithmetic all stand ready beneath it.
20:05Z — the 0/15 reread: the win labels were the bug's
- Fighter owns a regression on the record: #657's victor reader pointed at the --output summary path while the CLI writes events to X-events.json — every victor read null, every link scored "lost" since #657's morning deploy. Part of the day's 0/15 was the labeling bug, not the difficulty bar; the TPKs were real (the bodies, the death-keeps), and kills and XP were always honest — but some "lost" links may have been clears wearing the wrong word. #680 merged and deployed (8ec99a19d): the reader fixed and proven (an epic chain clear records win=True for the first time since morning), the graded outcome landed with it — cleared / driven-off (a NAMED DIAL at 50% kill — the program's balance knob) / lost, killPct on every link, the gate card rendering the shade.
- The campaign record's honest state: today's link labels are stale (win=false on possibly-cleared fights); the ledger truth (kills, XP, banks, deaths) is intact; #675's calibration arms now measure with true labels and a graded dial — the junction got its instrument in the same hour it learned its old one lied.
20:30Z — the program's first measurement; the grind verified
- The Climax Anatomy (druid, #682 merged — the program's first research doc, pre-registered on #675): ten no-AI calibration delves, symmetric heuristic seats, seeds 101-105. The answer: entry encounters are correctly calibrated at level (dd-01's first rooms 10/10 winnable — P1 confirmed); neither the engine nor the seats are at fault (P2, P3 rejected). Lethality is back-loaded into climaxes by two named pathologies: the clock draw (crowded HP-bag rooms — the party out-damages 3-5:1 and still can't finish inside a turn cap that counts every creature's turn; 4 of 5 dd-01 seeds) and the overtuned finale (dd-03's last rooms out-damage an L3 party 2-3:1). Two bounded fixes follow: scale the timer by combatants, audit the final rooms' damage. The wrong-file scoring bug surfaced independently on the way — druid's find confirming fighter's #680 from the no-AI side.
- The grind verified in the live protocol (wizard): the campaign's first-ever graded link win (seed 5, link 1), three two-link retreats banking perfectly (dead-XP composing under retreat — ariel-ii's 500 banked at her death-keep), and the economics: 72 minutes, a fresh L1 party to 2,300/2,300/2,300/2,050 XP — roughly double the frontal-grind rate, and the party survives its own farming. The verdict on #676: the milestone is grindable by design — farm dd-01's first links to L3-4, then push deeper whole.
- Also filed this hour: #681 (the builder's level-up path dead after DB-load — the panel stales; Jupiter's three L3-eligibles blocked on it; bard's). The game's loop is whole end to end; the builder's level verb is the one dead joint.
21:00Z — the operator rules: rounds, RAW, and retreat deferred
- The cap ruling (#684, fighter's): the bound exists only against degenerate cases and applies to rounds, not turns — 40 rounds. The clock-draw pathology dies at the root: the 120-unit-turn counting was our artifact; 40 rounds gives even the HP-bag room its full fight in the book's own unit.
- RAW stands for the delves: loot where the book text says (the #667 parcels already are), no HP trims, no damage edits — understanding the RAW tuning is itself the goal. dd-03's overtuned finale is a finding to publish, not a bug to fix; the graded outcomes are the instrument that publishes it. Retreat economy deferred to the eventual make-it-a-better-game era (the operator's design thoughts banked for then).
- The near plan confirmed by the operator: higher-level parties attempt the FULL dd-01 (not bailing), then the dd-02/03/04 pushes — and their own hands on a full attempt when a party stands L3-4.
21:10Z — the operator plays; the fixes land in the same hour
- The operator's own full dd-01 attempt (the WoT party) filed six reports, all real: the replay viewer's 1/1 HPs (the #569 chain — with minions-at-1/1 correctly 4E but worth labeling), the layout/focus fight (the map unwatchable beside the log), the embedded navbar, the final summary's same HP bug — filed as #687 (bard); a capped fight with enemies standing scored CLEARED and collected the hoard — the graded dial vs the cap's verdict, and the reward gate the book implies — #688 (fighter); and the XP arithmetic that won't reconcile (1,923 available, 1,192 per PC — divide-or-full-credit against PHB1's actual text) — #689 (fighter, citation as the bar).
- Three fixes merged and deployed in the same hour (22e7baede): #685 — the round cap whole (rounds not unit-turns, 40 everywhere, the stepwise deadline raised to 2400s for honest 40-round LLM links; the probe: the day's capped-out L1 party now CLEARS dd-01/1-1 — 12 rounds, 94 unit-turns, victor Player, 500 XP exact); #686 — the level-up root found empirically (the picker's own blur fired the rebuild mid-press; mousedown preventDefault in pickerWidget, every picker inherits; 'the finding said render doesn't fire — the truth was it fired too well'); #683 — the resume reads the spec's full track. The L3 veterans unblock; the first L3s are minutes away.
- Ops's uncommitted code edit adopted (5783996da): the SEAT_LLM_BACKEND code default joins the Ox window — the belt to the unit env's suspenders, with a proper commit after sitting dirty in the shared tree for an hour.
21:20Z — the hoard stays with the book
- #690 merged and deployed (2e53daf23, fighter — #688's grant half): the engine's verdicts were right all along (win=False on every WoT link); the bug was the treasure riding the pre-fight path — parcels granted by AREA REACHED, not outcome. Now post-outcome on cleared links only: the L1 probe collects nothing on a lost finale, the operator's exact shape. The display's "victory" framing is the completion readout (bard's coordination note). The book's hoard stays with the room you actually clear.
- #689 (the XP division) in flight — fighter names the formula and its lineage against PHB1's citation bar first; the engine change re-prices every bank, so the ledger-repair question rides with it.
21:25Z — the operator's six, answered; the division ruled
- #691 merged and live (bard's seventeenth PR): all four replay reports — the HP 1/1 root found (untouched PCs carry no damage evidence AND no corpus file; both fetchers now fall back to the DB loader), the embedded layout (map and log in one view), the self-scrolling log (the map stays in view), the navbar hiding in iframes, minions-at-1/1 labeled as correct 4E.
- #692 merged and deployed (fighter): the citation rules — DMG p.120, "divide the result among the party." The operator's recollection was right; both award sites fixed (combat harvest + the skill-challenge twin). The arithmetic: a full dd-01 clear banks 641/PC, not 1,923 — every ledger to date over-credits by the roster factor. The re-apply pre-approved (same discipline as #660: party-roster scope, provenance-keyed, probe rows wait) — the ledger becomes RAW-honest, which is the mission's own bar.
21:40Z — the books become RAW-honest
- The re-price applied: 29 of 30 under the xpDivide key (readable separately from #660's xpRepair in the audit): Saturn's shares (rhea 3,038→705, titan 2,738→630), Neptune's zeros corrected to true divided credit (triton 0→55, despina/galatea →245), Jupiter's moons to their shares — the living trio included on the extended scope (thelxinoe 700→116, arche an honest zero, helike 350→58). Puck blocked AGAIN by his own 4-at-will kit — the #627 gate holding against repair convenience for the second time today; his re-price waits on the player-lane kit rebuild.
- One boundary corrected by the lead's own rule misfiring: thelxinoe/arche/helike — Jupiter's living recruits, not probe rows — extended into the scope (the probe-rows rule was meant for probes and practice moons; the trio re-prices with the fleet).
21:55Z — the campaign's first L3s; the division bites
- Wizard's trio lands L3 — oberon-ii, umbriel-ii, puck-ii at v5, the campaign's first paragon-track core, the banks preserved through every save, the "taken" duplicate-markers catching two memory-fictions on the way (good product, his note). The #681/#686 fix verified in his protocol — the panel renders the canonical L3 shape.
- And the division bites both ways: Jupiter's veterans re-priced 2,884 → 297 (honest shares, far below the L3 threshold — division un-leveled the whole board's eligibility); wizard's trio still carries pre-division 2,300s — the first L3s ride over-credited banks pending the second pass (fighter's tool re-runs in seconds, the -ii generation routed). Ruling per the #593 floor: the levels stand, the banks re-price — repairs never un-level; the operator may override toward RAW-pure (levels revert to honest threshold crossings), flagged for them.
- The honest economy's shape: the grind is ~5× longer in RAW terms — the thresholds were always built for divided shares, and the campaign has just started meaning it.
22:00Z — the ledger closed honest at every generation
- The -ii pass applied: oberon-ii/umbriel-ii/puck-ii 2,300→537 (L3 standing per the floor doctrine), titania-ii 2,050→475, ariel-ii 500→100 — every book reading the same DMG p.120 citation. 34 PCs re-priced across the two passes, one gate-hold (puck, twice), zero level demotions. The RAW-pure override stays flagged for the operator.
- The campaign's first L3s stand on honest banks — 537 each, a fifth of the way to L4's threshold by the book's arithmetic, exactly as 4E's long heroic tier was always meant to grind.
21:50Z — the farm draws blood: Jupiter V extinct on the grind
- Grind round two, seed 20: a full TPK — helike and mneme fell in link 1 (the "safe" farm's first blood: the two-link farm has variance, not safety), and the resume's auto-fired boss link finished the rest (the resume wrinkle: a mid-track per-encounter session resumes into mode-none auto-play rather than its prompt gate — another #679-family shape, filed by observation here). Six honest deaths kept, every earner banking their divided share.
- Jupiter V is extinct — the campaign's third full-party death, and the first on a farming round. The honest economy's ledger charges for its XP in blood at every seed; the grind strategy survives (wizard's Neptune grinds on) but its "safe" framing dies here. The retreat button itself remains unclicked in player hands — the resume wrinkle keeps intercepting the gate — and Jupiter VI's roster will need building when the next sitting opens.
22:15Z — the honest pace, measured
- The divided economy's going-forward rate (wizard, heuristic probe): ~530-660 XP/PC per dd-01 link — the award = pool ÷ party-present exactly (662/PC on a 2,648-value run), with the kill-value vs nominal gap explained (minions and duplicates crediting via the #648 sidecar, working as intended). The L3→L4 road is ~4-5 grind links per PC at this rate; L11 remains a campaign — as the book always meant it.
- The fleet's evening ledger: bard's seventeen PRs all landed and live, board clear, the night sitting begun (a new run at 22:06Z). The ledger reconciliation wizard was about to request had already arrived — the day's last crossing, in the good direction.
22:20Z — Jupiter VI rises; the day's last generation
- Jupiter VI stands 6/6 — autonoe, aitne, eurydome, euanthe, euporie, orthosie, the full spread, the day's third full roster build (the wizard's spellbook-alert wart banked into the drivers after one retry). The campaign's grind continues tomorrow on the honest economy: ~530-660 XP/PC/link, L11 a real campaign away, exactly as the book meant.
- Day nine's ledger, closing: ~50 merges, 34 PCs repriced to RAW shares, the seats taught to speak, the ledger taught honesty twice over, the win label taught truth, the hoard taught to stay with the room, the first measurement taken, the first L3s standing, three party extinctions honestly kept, and a player who sat down mid-day and found six real bugs that were all fixed by dinner.
23:30Z — the tier wall, measured; the level-seed one-liner lands
- The dd-04 push met the wall (wizard, the L3 core): link 1 vs dd-04's entry room = mutual annihilation — killPct 100, everything in the room dead including the party. One tier under is not a fighting chance; it is mutual destruction. Neptune IV fully dead, the paragon core included — the long march restarts at Neptune V. The campaign math after the wall: dd-04 needs L4+; the farmable frontier is dd-01..03 at ~530-660 XP/PC/link; the L11 march is many generations long.
- #695 filed and routed (fighter, label verified): a link-1 wipe doesn't END the chain — links 2-3 ran a dead party (killPct 0, wasted seats), and the retreat banner then claimed earnings that didn't exist. Fix shapes: chain-over on the all-dead harvest, a death screen at the gate, an honest banner.
- #694 merged and deployed (ca88328e6, #693 closed): the level null path seeds from the loaded unit's Level attribute — the grind's most common transaction (single-link keeps) carries the true field. Probe: fresh-session L25s record 25.
23:40Z — Jupiter VI extinct in its first sitting; the farm's variance named
- The generation lasted one sitting: three moons fell in the "farm" links at seed 19 (orthosie, autonoe, euporie — my zero-deaths read was the unkept banks lying again; the run state tells truth), and the resume's auto-fired boss took the rest. The campaign's fourth full extinction, kept honestly — every earner banked their divided share at death.
- The farm's variance, now with consecutive-seed evidence: seed 1's round was bloodless, seed 20 killed two in link 1, seed 19 killed three. The two-link farm is not safe; it is a coin-flip grinder. Combined with the tier wall, the honest campaign shape is generational churn on the frontier — Neptune's model (many generations, the march continuing) is not one strategy among several; it is the shape the RAW makes.
- #696 merged and deployed (85f965309, fighter's sixteenth of the day): the wipe is terminal at the session level, the death screen shows at the gate, the retreat banner promises nothing beyond the fought record. The next generation's deaths at least die on an honest screen.
